You may have already experienced the health benefits of essential oils, used them in the kitchen when whipping up your favorite meals, or
enjoyed their uplifting, relaxing, and soothing scents on a daily basis; but have you tried using essential oils for cleaning?

With natural cleansing and purifying properties, certain essential oils can be a helpful part of your regular cleaning routine. Not
only can essential oils be used to cleanse surfaces and purify the air, but they leave behind a pleasant aroma that will instantly make your home feel clean and refreshed!

The air inside our home is 200-300% more toxic than the air outside. Why? Because of all the highly toxic products we use in our homes. This includes candles, air fresheners, cleaning products, scented toys, laundry detergent, fabric softeners and more. When you look at all these ingredients in these products, particularly the word ‘fragrance or perfume’, the product you are using to ‘clean’ your home already contains over 3,100 chemicals in it. These toxins in cleaning products are known cancer causing agents, known carcinogens, known hormone disruptors, known to cause respiratory issues, and known to affect fertility and reproductive organs.

The following holds true when we are talking about the word perfume/fragrance in our cleaning products:

Question [to the EWG]: Is it true that the cosmetics industry can put any chemical into a product’s “fragrance” without showing it on the ingredients list? What do they put in there?

Answer [from the EWG]: It’s true. When you see “fragrance” on a personal care product’s label, read it as “hidden chemicals.” A major loophole in FDA’s federal law lets manufacturers of products like shampoo, lotion, and body wash include nearly any ingredient in their products under the name “fragrance” without actually listing the chemical.

Making the switch to a completely non-toxic home, will eliminate the toxicity level within your home, and your bodies will begin to purge the toxins from the inside out because you are not giving it a fighting chance to heal itself.

Please note: The essential oils used in the recipes are used for the specific cleansing properties. I do not recommend swapping these oils as they may not have the same cleansing affect as intended.

Absolutely loved the class and really enjoyed learning how many items could be replaced with green items in our home. The in class demos helped show how simple the ingredient lists are and took the intimidation out of crafting the cleaning products. I highly recommend the class.
